Getting Rid of Wasps
Let’s all face it. One of the best things about summer vacation is being able to open up your pool and take a dip in the cool water on a hot day. Pools are a wonderful way to pass time, enjoy company or even schedule your daily workout. However, when all of that is interrupted by one of the most annoying pests we all love to hate, getting into your pool does not sound like a good idea anymore. This is always such a bummer, especially during those warmer summer days. Pools are meant to be enjoyed, especially with how much upkeep they do have. If you are noticing different wasps that have made you skip the swimsuits, continue reading about the best ways to get rid of them.
Ways to Get Rid of Wasps
As enjoyable for us as humans that it is to take a dip in the pool on a hot July day, it is just as enjoyable for insects. With the heat that summer comes with, pests are more likely to hang out around your pool areas for the same reasons that we do. They enjoy the cold water and are able to “relax” quite like we do. However, when dealing with a wasp, that is the farthest thing from relaxing that there is.
Dealing with Trash
Before a wasp comes across your pool, they may have noticed other areas of your home, that attracted them more than the crystal clear water. One thing to keep in mind is any open trash that could be around your home. Having trash cans that are out in the open without a lid can be a target perfect for any wasp. Anything that we find unneeded could be their next meal. Keep this in mind, and always store your trash in closed containers, and clean up after spending your afternoon and evenings outside on the water.
Other Types of Bugs
Wasps can also be attracted to any bugs that they find for yet another source of food. If you notice that other bugs are floating around in your pool, it may be a good time for you to start a routine cleaning time dedicated to getting the insects out of the water. Make sure that your water filter is also cleaned out regularly as well, this could come in big handy.
Getting Rid of Their Nests
This next step is where someone on our Brady Pest team can come into play. If you notice that there are any signs of hornet or wasp nests around your pool, deck, or anywhere on your home, those need to be taken care of as soon as possible. Not only can they grow in size over time, but they can also grow in numbers the more that they are in their spots. Giving one of our exterminators a call is the best idea for the job. Attacking a nest on your own could leave you in a very horrible citation. You never know how many are in a nest, and without the proper equipment, you are looking at a horrible injury.
The bottom line is, that we want you to enjoy your pool no matter when you want to. In order to do this, you need to feel as safe as possible. Being able to follow these certain steps will help you in the long run. If you are ever unsure of how to go forward with handling wasps or hornets, you are always able to give our team a call. We are here to help you with any questions, or get rid of any signs of nests. Enjoy your summer this year, and know that Brady Pest has you completely covered.
