Different Types of Termites
One thing that you’ll need to know is what type of bug you are facing. There are different termites like there are different breeds of dogs. To get to the basics, we are here to help you! These bugs can be broken down into two distinct groups, which are subterranean termites and dry wood termites. Though there are similarities between the types, there are also many distinct differences in their behavior, living habits, and swarming habits.
Identifying a Termite Swarm
Termite infestations happen in such a fast moment, you blink your eyes, and all of a sudden, termites have taken over your home. With this in mind, it is so important to be able to identify termite swarms quickly and correctly. When termites enter the so-called “swarming stage” this is when termites are ready to establish a new colony and reproduce to fill their colony. In all, termite swarmers resemble flying ants, and they will never come alone. Termite colonies begin forming immediately after swarmers hit their favored spot. Something to be mindful of is that termites are very good at picking their homes, and making a home out of just about anywhere that has both a cellulose source and a healthy amount of moisture.
